Prof. Figen Şermet

Professor Figen Şermet is Chair of the Ophthalmology Department at Ankara University, Turkey. She completed her medical degree at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and her residency at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. She worked as a specialist doctor in ophthalmology before being appointed as Assistant Professor at Ankara University in 1996. Since then, she has been promoted to Associate and then Full Professor in Ophthalmology.

Professor Şermet is an active member of the Turkish Ophthalmology Society in both the medical retina and vitreoretinal surgery divisions. She is also a member of the Club Jules Gonin and EURETINA. She is in the ESASO faculty and gives lectures on medical and surgical retina modules.

Professor Şermet has been a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials and has published more than 90 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests include medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases, retinopathy of prematurity, imaging, and uveitis.
