Prof. Horst Helbig

Professor Horst Helbig is Past-President of the German Ophthalmological Society and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Regensburg, Germany. He first studied medicine at the University of Berlin, where he then received training in both physiology and ophthalmology; he also completed research fellowships at Yale University, Uppsala University, and the National Eye Institute.

Professor Helbig was Head of the Retina Service at both Cantonal Hospital, St. Gall, and University Hospital Zurich. In addition, he holds a Master Degree of Health Service Administration at St. Gall. He is now Director and Professor at the University Eye Hospital, Regensburg, and is on the executive board for the German Retina Society.
